Santa Barbara Rescue Mission
The Santa Barbara Rescue Mission offers physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual resources to those struggling with homelessness and addiction. The organization started in 1965 when Chuck and Mary Pope opened a meal service for those suffering from homelessness. From there it evolved to include a residential treatment program for addiction and homelessness. Today, the Rescue Mission has beds for up to 119 people in their emergency shelter and are open 365 days a year. They provide 140,000 meals each year to those with no other place to go. Their recovery program serves nearly 70 people in a 12-month period.
