Foundation for the Arts & the Community Arts Workshop

Foundation for the Arts

Foundation for the Arts collaborates with members of our community to bring healing, hope, and inspiration to those who need it. While the organization was established in Santa Barbara in 2020, its story began in 2005 when founders Dr. Nestor Soto and Maria-Jose Fuentes opened up an art gallery in Santiago, Chile. From there they began to develop ways to bring art to those who wouldn’t normally have access to it. Today, Foundation for the Arts serves the Santa Barbara community in a myriad of ways, collaborating with local artists on various projects to bring art to those in need.

The Community Arts Workshop

Since the 1980s, the vision for a center for creativity and art-making in Santa Barbara has been forming. In 2014, that vision became a reality with the Community Arts Workshop (CAW), a project of the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative. CAW hosts a variety of different artistic endeavors for all members of our community, including providing free art classes for children in our community who otherwise may not have the opportunity to learn and grow in a creative space.
